Louis Clesse (Belgian, 1889 - 1961) was a Belgian artist whom became well known for his post-impressionistic paintings and watercolors of landscapes and harbor scenes. After studying at the Academy of Ixelles (or Elsene), Clesse made his exhibition entry in the Brussels Salon of 1907. Many of his works were painted to depict the countryside villages around Bruges, Belgium.
Clesse's works have been auctioned by renowned auction houses and galleries including Doyle, Christies and Galerie Moderne.
The current work depicts four fisherman, facing away from the viewer, standing on the dock looking out at the sea with a small sailboat in the foreground.
Signed and dated '1934' to the lower right corner.
Presented framed and glazed.

Condition: There appears to be humidity under the glass panel causing a foggy view. The painting should likely be removed and re framed. Overall the painting presents nicely and will appear even better once re framed.
