Lord Joël Allen (American, 20th Century) marker on film, preliminary sketch, "Art Can't Hurt You" Mural #1 (1998), depicting a dynamic animated figurative work a swimmer and ballet dancer juxtaposed in front of urban city with building blocks adjacent from the flag "Build a Future". With the sections divided and red numerals presenting for an interesting display. Signed & dated in pencil in the lower right. Presented beneath plexi in a warm toned wooden frame that is wired. Accompanied with copies of photographs during painting process including First Lady Bush.
Verbal provenance: For original watercolor by Lord Joël Allen for the advertising of the paint by numbers mural "Art Can't Hurt You" to fund the Rella MacDougall Scholarship Fun which was founded by Lord Joël to benefit & depicted the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club in Bronx, New York. The final mural comprised of ten inch by ten inch canvas squares on frames. First Lady, Mrs. Barbara Bush participated by hand painting one of the squares - (As a youngster, Jennifer Lopez regularly attended this Boys and Girls Club). Rella MacDougall spearheaded the world renowned Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club Decorator Show house which raised proceeds for the non profit.
Condition: With expected signs of age and wear including some wave to the film and light marks to the frame but does not detract from its appearance.
