Lili Rethi (Austrian-American, 1894-1969) graphite on paper depicting the construction of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, with workers seen on scaffolding around a large crane lowering materials into an underground tunnel. Pencil signed lower right, dated 1947. A handwritten note lower left reads "To D.G. Baillie Jr. Esqr. in gratitude of his great help and with highest esteem-October 26 1949." Displayed behind glass with a white mat hand-decorated with ink borders in a simple black frame.
Condition: Displays well with light paper toning, minor discoloration, and light wear to frame.
