Item Description
Leonardo Nierman is a Mexican artist. His full name is Leonardo Nierman Mendelejis and was born in 1932.
As an artist he first became interest in music and took up the violin which he played for the better part of two decades. This musical training seems to have been an important influence within his painting, print making and sculputre.
Nierman's work is abstract but often bears resemblance to discernible imagery including birds, water and more.
Having been influenced by works of masters including Kandinsky, Chirico and Miro in addition to other cubists and surrealist style artists, Nierman frequently makes use of vivid color in surrealist style abstracted works much like the current work.
The print is titled "Bird of Fire", and although an abstract work, a birds body with extended wings in distinct fire reds with white and orange inclusions gives the impression of a naturalistic body in the abstract environment.
Signed lower right and numbered 'VI / LXXV' to the lower corner.
Presented matted and framed in a nicely finished wood frame and glazed.
