Laura Newman (American, B. 1956) is an American abstract artist. She creates vivid, dynamic paintings that revel in a harmonious balance between gestural brushwork, hard-edge geometric spatial arrangements and layered, architectural compositions. Newman was born in Cleveland, Ohio. She currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
Tryptich with 3 paintings, all framed.
The stunning tryptich consists of three acrylic on canvas paintings, each of which is framed. The paintings depict an abstracted image of the sun either rising or setting. With the sun in the right most panel the artist includes an explosive quality to the way the sun emanates light against the dark ground. Interestingly the dark ground is itself against a white primed section of each of the three canvases.
The work has an ephemeral feeling with the viewer feeling the play between light and darkness in this fabulous artwork.
Signed "NEWMAN" to the lower right of the right most canvas.
Each is presented in a thin parcel gilt finished frame.

Approximately 32"H x 72 3/4"W (total when together)
Condition: Good, all present well. The gilt finish to the frames is slightly worn but appears to be intentionally done for visual effect.
