Item Description
Late 19th Century Fench figural mantle clock three-piece garniture set, "La Renommee" designed by Xavier Raphanel (French, 1876 - 1957) featuring a hand painted enamel dial decorated with floral accents and black Arabic numerals along the webbed trim. Spelter figure of a winged woman grasping the metal reins of the horse who shares the bronzetone patina and is mounted to its orange marble base where the name plaque is attached. Serial number is marked on back of clock el verso marked, 18412. A melting clock accents the top of the clock face and leaves and rocks detail the platform above the marble base. Paired with a set of two spelter baroque relief trophy vases attached to orange marble bases as well that are slightly elevated above on spelter like stylized feet.
Clock has not been tested. Unknown working condition.
Condition: With expected signs of age and wear including minor loss to the hand of the winged woman as she is missing the rod that goes through her raised hand. The pierced door that closes behind the clock cannot close. General surface marks throughout and minor roughness along marble. Some finish loss along the trophy vessels. Attests for its age and adds to its character.
