Item Description
Late 19th century United States Navy officer's sword. Manufactured by the Army & Navy Co. Operative [Philadelphia, PA], the wire wrapped grip is protected by a brass D-guard in the form of a dolphin and leads to a pierced cross guard with USN embedded in a scrolled foliate and acorn motif. The pommel cap with the American eagle encased in thirteen stars. The blade is garnished with acid etched naval motifs and insignias. Accompanied with original leather scabbard with brass rope-form accents. Overall good condition with the scabbard having loss to the bottom as well as a detached brass mount along the top. The sword with some scattered oxidation along the brass. Sword measures 35 1/2" l.
