Item Description
*Sotheby's tag on verso denoting the artist, medium and title of the painting. It should be noted on the Sotheby's tag they've misspelled the artists name leaving one t off the end of the artists last name. It is correctly spelled by the artist in the front right lower corner. Leslie Tillett.
Offered for sale is a fabulous painting by artist / designer Leslie Tillett titled "Grove of Trees".
The painting is highly textural with built up impasto formed by layers of acrylic paint over top of underlying layers.
The thick impasto is layered onto the primed canvas which serves as a perfect substrate material for a work as large and three dimensional as this work is.
With earth toned hues the artist has painted a lower grassy field with impasto texture giving the effect of green grass with 7 tree trunks issuing from the green grass and rising high. The tree trunks rise above the concrete wall in the back ground which has wonderful texture which together with the texture of the impastoed tree trunks leaves the viewer stunned. The trees are full of green leaves which also have a bumpy texture from the use of impasto which adds to the effect of the three dimensional leaves on the tree tops.

Presented on it's wooden stretcher but unframed.

Condition: The work is in good condition overall, there are a few losses to the impasto which if examined closely can be found but are negligible when looking at the work as a whole which has very minimal wear and presents impressively overall.
