Item Description
This wonderful large Japanese Daruma doll also called a good luck doll is hand painted. The hollow traditional Japanese doll modeled after Bodhidharma the founder of the Zen sect of Buddhism. These Daruda dolls, traditionally depicted as a bearded man, are rich in symbolism. They are traditionally seen as a symbol of perseverance and good luck making them a wonderful gift.
When given, they often have two white eyes, so a person can decide on a goal and when wished upon one eye is painted. Once that goal is attained the second eye is filled in.
This large and highly decorative doll is magnificently decorative and sure to please.
A sticker denoting the doll is from "Sensu" and made in Japan.
