Vintage, MCM, Josef Ekberg (Swedish, 1877 - 1945) iridescent glazed and gilt finished, two handled ceramic bottle vase for Gustavsberg.
Ekberg worked for the Gustavsberg ceramics company in Sweden from 1889 - 1945. Ekberg is well known for his fabulous iridescent glazed pottery.
The current vase in bottle form with a cylindrical neck, only slightly inverting at the mouth. The ovoid lower body stands on a gilt finished foot ring. The iridescent and gilt finished ceramic vase has two gilt finished handles with gilt finish to the mouth trim along with two thin gilt finished bands around the top of the vases neck.
The vase is also decorated with a gilt finished thistle decoration on the front and verso of the mid body.
Signed underfoot in gilt finish, Gustavsberg with its anchor mark as well as the artists mark.
Additionally, there is a mark which reads N195 which is likely for reference for the Gustavsberg factory.
Condition: Good overall, presents handsomely. Some darker and lighter spots to the iridescent glaze is as it was created and adds depth and sheen to the glazed ceramic vase.
