Item Description
John Stobart (British, 1929-2003) "Maiden Lane, Yew York in 1800" lithograph depicting a dockside city scene. Wet cobblestone streets reflect the blue light of a full moon emerging from a clouded night sky, beautifully contrasting the warm orange glow of nearby storefront display windows. Figures mill about the sidewalk, while others are seen with horse-drawn wagons. The diagonal perspective of the buildings lead the eye to large ships docked in the distance, finishing with still waters on the horizon. Pencil signed and numbered 24/750 lower right, titled lower center. Fine print above the image reads "Published by Maritime Heritage Prints, Inc. in limited signed edition of 750 (150 remarqued); from the original painting in the artist's exhibition of Kennedy Galleries, New York November 1975. Print Copyright 1977." Displayed behind glass with tiered cream and gray mats in a metallic gray banded frame.
Condition: Displays well with light wear to frame.
