Oil on canvas of a portrait of a woman in appropriate dress for 1897 on a dark ground in a gilt and gesso frame. Artist John George Brown or also known as J.G. Brown was a prolific artist born in England and moved to Brooklyn, NY in 1853. His works are found in many major museum collections.

38 1/4" x 28 1/4", 2" depth overall
Condition: minor cracks to gesso on frame, painting appears to have been professionally lined and restored.
