About the Artist:
John C. Henry was an American artist born in South Carolina. As a teenager he received a scholarship to study commercial art, but a year into the program was drafted to the army and served as a drill sergeant during WWII. After the war, he went on to work as an illustrator and created catalogues for companies such as John Deere and Whirlpool. Throughout his life he was also a pianist and puppeteer. After retiring from commercial work, Henry focused on painting portraits and seascapes.
