Jenny Holzer (American, 1950 -) "Selection from the SURVIVAL SERIES (The future is stupid.)" 1983-85, Cast aluminum. Executed between 1983-85, this work is number two from an edition of ten.
Jenny Holzer, born July 29, 1950, is an American neo-conceptual artist, based in New York. She's fits into a feminist wing of contemporary artists working within New York City during the 1980's. As an artist, Holzer's focus has been on the delivery of her ideas inserted into public space. Her ouevre includes illuminated electronic displays, advertising, larger installations and signs of this kind.
The work at hand is rectangular in form with the words "The future is stupid." raised and polished on a darker ground. The work has a gallery label on verso denoting it was purchased from the Barbara Gladstone Gallery on 99 Greene Street in New York and has an information label affixed to the reverse.

Condition: Some of the black finish is worn off, most notable near the lower left hole and in other places throughout which can be seen in the attached lot images. Overall the work is in solid condition and presents well.
