Item Description
Herend porcelain tureen features the Rothschild Bird (RO) design. The decoration depicts pairs of colorful birds perched on flowering branches with necklace, surrounded by delicate butterflies, dragonflies, and insects — all rendered in exquisite hand-painted detail and vivid enamel colors. The body and lid display Herend’s signature basketweave relief pattern, enhancing the dimensional texture of the porcelain. The applied handles are formed as curling green branches accented with small rosebuds, while the domed lid is crowned with an elegant, naturalistic branch-form finial. The piece rests on a circular footed base with a thin gilt accent line, and the rim and finial edges are also trimmed in hand-applied gold. The underside bears the blue Herend Hungary shield mark, hand-painted and inscribed 1086/RO.

Condition: Excellent condition overall. The porcelain is clean and free of chips, cracks, or repairs, with bright gilding and vivid, unfaded enamels. The applied floral and branch details are intact and finely preserved. Minimal, expected surface wear consistent with careful handling. There are minor traces of old adhesive on bottom and minor marring to the unglazed edges of bottom from shelf display.
