Item Description
Herend Hungary hand-painted porcelain covered sugar bowl, decorated in the classic Rothschild Bird (RO) pattern and accented with 24K gold trim and applied floral details. This bowl features Herend’s signature osier (basketweave) molded ground and gently scalloped rim. The domed lid is surmounted by a finely modeled branch finial terminating in a hand-painted strawberry. Each side is adorned with the Rothschild Bird design, depicting a pair of finely detailed songbirds perched among leafy branches, one side with necklace, accompanied by scattered colorful butterflies, beetles, and insects. The bowl’s handles are molded as green branches with applied rose and yellow blossom terminals The interior and underside exhibit a bright white glaze, while the edges are highlighted with hand-applied gilding. The underside bears the Herend Hungary blue shield hallmark with crossed paintbrushes and HANDPAINTED, along with the pattern and form number 6014/RO.
Dimensions: 5" H x 7" L x 3 3/4" W
Condition: Excellent overall condition. The bowl and lid are free of chips, cracks, or restorations. The paintwork is vibrant and unmarred, and the gilding remains intact and brilliant. The delicate applied flowers and handles are complete and undamaged. Underside is clean and clearly stamped with Herend’s blue hallmark, pattern code, and hand-painted artisan markings. Minimal shelf wear to the unglazed foot, consistent with age and display.
