Hector Navarro (Mexico 1937-) limited edition lithographic print. The wonderfully imaginative work is pencil signed in the lower right and numbered '10 / 40'
Hector Navarro was born in Mexico in 1937. His work has been primarily influenced by the 1950s and Post-War modernism with focused attention on his New York and American artistic peers during the period. His figural abstractions are highly expressionistic and creative.
This work depicts a field of gradations of green hues with orange dots in an abstracted design. The a circle, halved by a line of dots with two different decorative designs comprised of orange and blue dots. The abstracted image making use of dots may be reflective of the "Ben Day" dots first seen in comic books and then elevated to high art by Modernist and Pop Art legend Roy Lichtenstein. Navarro's work draws the viewer in to wonder whether the imagery is purely abstract or an abstracted but stylized depiction of something in the real world.
Wonderfully presented with a white trim border with a thin band of coral color separating the white from the darker green matt. The work is in a gilt frame and glazed for protection.
