Harry Hall (English, d. 1882) "Lord Lyron" engraving by William Summers, depicting the titled horse in rich brown with a short, braided black mane. The horse stands in a stall beside its saddle, accompanied by a playful black cat on a white and red blanket. Printed text below the image reads "Lord Lyron. Winner of the 200 Guinea Stakes at Newmarket, the Derby stakes at Epsom & of the great St. Leger at Doncaster 1866. The property of R. Sutton, esqr. by Stockwell out of Paradigm, trained by James Dover, Ridden by H. Custance." With fine print below reading "London: Published July 10th 1866 by A.H. Baily&Co 3 Royal Exchange Buildings Cornhill." Plate signed above the saddle, labeled "painted by Harry Hall" lower left and "engraved by W. Summers" lower right. Displayed behind glass with tiered brown and white mats in a beveled gilt frame.
Condition: Displays well with scattered foxing and minor discoloration Minor finish wear and nicks to frame.
