Item Description
A set of six older curated Wishbone Chairs with Oak frames and Rope seats designed by design Master Hans Wegner in 1949 and made by Danish makers Carl Hansen & Son. Each with rope woven seat. It is said that Wegner was inspired by furniture of China’s Ming Dynasty and the result is one of the most iconic designs of the Mid Century period. Each chair has either the Carl Hansen & Son burned brand or a metal label bearing the name of the Copenhagen’s famous design store, Ilums Bolighus. four carved cylindrical tapered legs with rope woven seats with arched seat back top rail and classic Wishbone back splat.
Dimensions: 20.75” wide by 21” deep by 28.75” high. Seat height 16.5”.
Condition: Please see detail photos. Various signs of age and use include loose and broken rope strands to the seats, color difference in the rope seats with three (Older) seats being darker, fading to the wood frames as well as some water staining, scuffs, nicks and time softened wear. Some level of restoration is recommended however the joinery is good and the presentation and use remain exceptional.
