Item Description
This wonderful group of two artworks includes: a woodblock print by Ichiyosai Toyokuni (1823 - 1880) titled "Japanese Wrestling "SUMO" for Charity" The original work dating to the latter part of the 19th century, skillfully presents the traditional sport of "Sumo". "The public works of Sumo-charities on those days were held to collect the funds for constructions and repairs of temples and shirines.
The wonderful woodblock print has seal chop marks to the right side out of plate.
The second work is also a Japanese woodblock print which presents well with a wonderfully painted budding lily with two that are either yet to bloom or just out of bloom with a small colored section of leaves. the work is on an asymmetrical white ground, which itself is on a grey ground. The work is presented on a tan mat, with a finished wood frame and both are glazed.

Condition: The sumo print has slightly sunned colors which is very common to Japanese woodblocks but does not detract from the overall presentation and the second foliate work is in good condition.
