A fabulous 19th century Gilded Age trumeau mirror showcasing a short rectangular mirror in a handsomely bracketed and gilt mirror with a relief border and carved foliate relief at the sides, surmounted with a hand-painted oval reserve depicting a dapper gentleman in red pointing the way to a woman carrying a basket of produce accompanied by a child eating a fruit next to a dog. The painting is framed with a beaded and fluted gilt border topped with a rippling ribbon garland, and is supported by elegant scrolled feet over the top edge of the mirror.

Presents well overall with wear commensurate with age, most notably a loss to the ribbon garland relief at the center top, and scattered checking and finish wear across the frame. Minimal desilvering spots to the mirror surface.
