Sterling silver teapot and under plate. This beautiful antique set was made in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1796-1797, by William Robertson. This Georgian shaped oval teapot is a classical example of the period, with chased top and bottom foliate bands, hinged lid with thin chased foliate band, wood and sterling finial and a curved wood handle with thumb rest.
The under plate is matching, shaped and conforming with a reeded edge, chased foliate band and raised on four scrolled feet.

Teapot: 10 3/4" long from tip of spout to end of handle; 6 1/2" tall x 3 1/2" wide
Tray: 6 5/16" long x 4 15/16" wide x 13/16" high
Weight: 19.33 gross ozt
Condition: the pot well-worn with overall tarnish, ding to the lid and lower edge, slight dings to the sides, well worn lid band. The tea pot has also had a repair to the seam next to the spout, and along the bottom edge seam.
The under plate is tarnished, with surface scratches. The wear for both is commensurate with the age of the pieces, and please see the photography for additional views of the condition.
