George Shawe (1915 - 1995) was active lived in United States and France. Best known for his Impressionistic style of figural and landscape paintings this current work presents a woman depicted as seated with her arms crossed over her knees. The woman is presented with her hair tied up and in a white blouse and blue skirt.
She is presented as sitting in a lush green landscape with a river in the distance. The lush green vegetation is glorious and the sky blue. The sitting woman appears to be lost in thought, gazing outwards into the unknown.
Signed in the lower right corner and signed and titled on verso.
Presented in a silver hued wood frame, with burlap fillet. d
