The traditional appears against a muted, historic landscape backdrop. In stark contrast with the background scene, Rodrigue has included one of his iconic Blue Dogs with vibrant piercing yellow eyes appearing to stare directly at the viewer. The Blue Dog has been hand painted in acrylic paint with thick impasto adding a layer of depth and texture to the two dimensional work.
The stark contrast of the background environ with the Blue Dog embodies Rodrigue’s distinctive signature fusion of Louisiana heritage with Pop Art influences.
