Frederick Judd Waugh (American, 1861-1940) “Full Tide” oil painting on canvas depicting crashing waves in gorgeous teal blue and green with subtle yellow, peach, and purple undertones creating a refreshing and atmospheric scene. The waves froth against jagged rocks illuminated by the warm light of a celadon sky lightly clouded with peach and mauve accents. Signed lower right.
Displayed in a handsome gilt frame with carved relief at the corners, affixed with an artist/title plaque at the bottom center and a picture light at the top.

About the Artist:
Frederick Judd Waugh was an American artist known for marine paintings. Son of the portrait painter Samuel Waugh, Frederick studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Académie Julian in Paris. He served as a camouflage artist during World War I and also held an interest in folklore, writing poems and children's stories.

Presents well overall. The canvas appears to have been remounted with the edges cut and wrapped around the support on the verso.
