Item Description
Frances Alvarino Norwood (American [NC], 20th century) ceramic sculpture of a woman in a veil and dress. The figure looks wistfully to one side, wearing an indigo veil over a textured blue, green, and purple floor-length dress. An exaggerated and elongated form echoes the vertical positioning of her arms and hands. Her foot shows through the slit at the back of her dress, interrupting the cylindrical form. Piece is unsigned.
Provenance: From the lifetime collection of Barbara and Bob Allen, whose shared passion for art which began in the 1960s included ceramics, sculpture, and photography.
Condition: Displays well with light wear and discoloration. Past repair to the front wrist which blends nicely.
