This handsome Secretaire is similar to those attributed to Duncan Phyfe, circa 1800, featuring numerous brass ormolu, escutcheons, and knobs. The drop lid is desk height and has a leather top. The interior is fitted with several drawers and shelves. The center area is flanked with tuned columns with brass capitals and has a mirrored back. The two lower doors lock. The hand-carved hairy paw feet are standard in gilt leaf. The columns on the exterior are fitted with solid brass capitals and bases.
