Item Description
A playful pair of Chinese Blanc De Chine or Dehua, white glazed porcelain Buddhistic 'Foo Dogs'. The pair consists of opposing male and female dogs. The male can be seen holding a pierced ball under his front paw, while the female has one of her young offspring under her front paw as traditionally depicted.
The pair of of foo dogs are fabulously crafted with moulded decoration seen in relief. The foo dogs have wonderful coiled hair to the top of their heads with fabulous tail and mane. Their wonderful ears extend outward from the head with collars featuring bells around the necks.
Possibly Qing Dynasty or later 20th C.
Condition: There are some slight areas of surface wear and minor chips to the moulded decoration seen in high relief. Additionally there are some slight stained discoloration spots to the porcelain. Wear is commensurate with some age and handling / display. Despite gentle wear the foo dogs present playfully wonderful overall and are sure to add textural visual appeal wherever you decide.
