A fabulous trio of majolica pitchers. The smallest comes in an egg-shaped form with a purple-pink interior and green exterior decorated with leaves, branches, and flowers. The handle has a rigid branch-like appearance, while the spout gently flares. It is marked "Etruscan Majolica" on the bottom with the Griffen, Smith & Hill Maker's mark.
The next pitcher comes in a tapered cylinder form with a teal handle decorated with stippled sides. The exterior body is finished in a warm beige, and adorned with stemmed flowers in pink, white, and yellow. The interior of the pitcher is deep red, coming to a short pinched spout. The underside is marked as hand-painted in France.
The last pitcher is finely sculpted, depicting a rooster in shades of brown, red, and teal. The rooster's tail forms the handle, while the beak becomes the spout. It is unmarked but bears a paper sticker label on the underside, made in France.
Condition: All pieces display well with crazing that does not detract from the pieces' charm. A very tiny spot of glaze loss at the rim of the cylindrical pitcher. A small chip to the back of the rim on the Griffen Smith & Hill pitcher.
