A massive and masterfully painted oil on canvas mounted to wood panel by American artist F. C. Mathewson. The painting depicts a lush landscape with tall tree and landscape in the distance, with fabulously painted flowering Rhododendron plants with white blooms in the foreground on both the left and right sides of the painting. Signed and dated lower right.
Presented in a large grey finished frame with with arched mat, having carved and painted scrolls that have been applied to the shaped mat.
*Note this framed painting is very large. Please come prepared to pick up with the proper transportation to accommodate the length. The frame measures 3'1/4" H x 7'8 1/4" L.

There is significant wear to the painted finish on canvas, including punctures, paint loss, and bulged areas. Additionally the frame has losses to the applied scrolling appliqués. Despite wear the artwork still presents well overall and has an impressive and impactful presence.
