Platinum and diamond bracelet. This magnificent vintage Art Deco bracelet has a beautiful sleek appearance and a beautiful geometric profile. The center is set with a horizontally oriented, marquise brilliant cut diamond, approximately 1.00 CTS, bezel set and framed by calibre cut synthetic* bright green emeralds, also bezel set and finished with a milgrain edge and surrounded by round faceted diamonds. To the left and right of center, separated by a field of cube shaped diamond set links, are vertically oriented, bezel set marquise brilliant cut diamonds, approximately 0.30 TCW and also bordered by calbre cut bright green synthetic emeralds and accented by half dome shaped black onyx. The remainder of the bracelet is made up of two rows of the cube shaped links finished with a milgrain edge ,and set with round faceted diamonds, ending in a hidden box style clasp, foldover safety and additional safety chain. The entire approximate weight for the round faceted diamonds is approximately 2.16 TCW. The diamonds are near colorless and SI clarity.
*The use of synthetic colored stones, especially synthetic ruby, sapphire and emerald is extraordinarily common in Art Deco jewelry, especially in the calibre cut stones and the best explanation as to why comes from GIA's article on Art Deco jewelry in Gems and Gemology, and to quote: "The use of flame fusion synthetic corundum was also widespread. We do not know whether such synthetics were originally used to deceive, to increase the ease of matching size or color or perhaps simply because of the limited gem identification techniques available at that time". Regardless, the use of these stones should not undercut the importance of the jewelry from this period.
