Item Description
The rare and exceptional fifteen piece service features a rich turquoise/cobalt blue band accented by hand-painted 24K gold laurel leaves, rosettes, and linear ornamentation on gleaming white porcelain. Each piece is finished with delicate beading, ribbed gold bases, and classical handles and finials that reflect early 19th-century Empire style.
The set includes:
Teapot with lid fearturing a sculpted handle and domed lid topped with gilded acorn finial
Covered sugar bowl having twin- sculpted handles and dome lid topped with gilded acorn finial
Creamer with elegantly sculpted spout and handle
Six teacups with matching saucers displaying flared forms with pedestal bases highlighted in gold
Each piece bears the Herend Hungary blue shield hallmark, HANDPAINTED, along with the pattern number 4429-0-00/Josephine-B.
Condition: Excellent, close to showroom condition. The service shows no chips, cracks, or repairs. The gilding is intact and brilliant, and the paintwork remains crisp and lustrous. Each piece is clean and clearly marked with Herend’s blue shield hallmark and the hand-painted Josephine-B designation. Very light shelf wear is visible on some bases, consistent with shelf display on unglazed areas.
Purchased in Hungary Ca. 1995 at the Herend factory.
