Item Description
An exceptional Crown Naples Capodimonte porcelain two handled, footed Jewelry casket.
Standing on four gilt finished metallic feet the rectangular casket with Neoclassical decoration including moulded and polychrome finished figures within shaped reserves outlined with gilt bands along with Ionic column motif surrounding the box.
The 'A' frame top with allegorical imagery within shaped reserves to each side depicting figures in the landscape. The trims of the box's lid with pierced, gilt finished openwork trim bands.
Gilt bronze swing handles can be seen on either end with the impressive locking mechanism and cast loch presenting impressively well.
The interior is lined for cushioning.
Marked underfoot.
Condition: There are two keys, however neither seem to easily lock or unlock the chest as the locking mechanism may need some maintenance to function properly. Despite locking easily the hinged casket presents astoundingly well with only minor wear to the finish and nics around the trim. The wear is commensurate with age and handling however despite wear the box has fabulous visual appeal.
