About the Artist:
Esther Gentle was an American artist, printmaker, and gallery manager. She was the first American female sculptor to hold a one-person show at the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris, and held two exhibitions in the second half of the 20th century in Paris and New York.

Paul Klee was a Swiss-born German artist influenced by expressionism, cubism, and surrealism. He was born to parents with an inclination for music, inspiring a sense of creative expression early on. He taught at the Bauhaus school and Düsseldorf Academy. He produced a high volume of artworks throughout the 1930's, with a lagging period during the mid 30's due to an autoimmune disease. By the later part of the 30's, some of his works were included in a Nazi exhibition of "degenerate art" while other works were seized from public collections.
