Ernst Forberg Engraved After Benjamin Vautier Etching “In the Forest”. Carl Ernest Forberg, German, 1844 - 1915. After Benjamin Vautier I, Swiss, 1829 - 1898. Published by Gesellschaft für Vervielfältigende Kunst, Vienna. Etching depicts two figures, one woman sitting in a remorseful gesture while the young boy lays his head upon her lap. A hat upside down beside a branch is in front of them while they are centered amongst trees. The woman appears to have a bundle of sticks beside her. Intricate line work, minimal light, overall dark composition. Framed beneath glass in a glossy pine frame. Informational label en verso.
Condition: In good overall condition with expected signs of use. The impression of the plate is natural to the making process and leaves an 1.5” gap to potentially frame. Minor marks on frame, slight tearing of back but well intact. Light dust underneath glass. Lacking edition number.
