A gorgeous Edwardian dressing table circa 1880-1910, finely crafted in warm medium brown satinwood. The table features a raised shelf with a brass three-quarter rail gallery raised over balusters, set over a shapely bowfront tabletop decorated with an oval reserve at the center of a clipper ship on crashing waves, finished with a blue beaded border. The tabletop is further decorated with a wreath of flowers and foliage, complementing a garland of pink and yellow roses with blue ribbons over a long drawer adorned by brass loop handles.
The bottom portion of the table sports two cabinets creating a kneehole form with an arched spandrel at the center. Shapely legs feature cylindrical tops painted with lattice designs, while balusters are detailed with green painted leaves. Labeled JT Needs Late J. Bramah on the drawer lock plaque.
Condition
An excellent piece overall with some wear commensurate with age and use. A few small spots of veneer loss, including to the front left corner, back left corner, and lower left door. Finish craquelure and finish wear with some spots of old repair to the paint. The two bottom cabinet doors are locked closed and does not include a key.
