A handsome clock designed by Eli Terry (American [CT], 1772-1852), circa 1845-1855. The Chippendale style case is finely constructed with rich red-brown mahogany veneers, accented with eye-catching orange-brown accents along the broken-bonnet pediment. The pediment is topped with stately brass urn finials, heralding a rectangular body with a cream-white dial adorned by black Roman numerals. The corners of the idal are painted with dainty pink and blue floral sprays and rimmed with rich gilt detailing. The lower panel of the door is eglomise painted with a stately scene of a building in a vibrant green landscape, with an oval reserve at the center allowing a view of the pendulum. The case is flanked by cylindrical columns leading to a double camel apron and subtly flared feet.
As-is. Key and pendulum included. The right arch of the pediment is broken. There are breaks to the frame at the top with old repairs and losses. One foot is detached. The finials are loose and lost. Wear to the painted finish. Not in working condition, hands are broken needs repair. Missing its weights.
