Item Description
Tempura on wood early 19th century Orthodox icon of St. Nicholas. He holds an opened book in one hand, the other posed in blessing. He wears a richly detailed red robe over a dark blue shirt. A fine lined red halo surrounds his head, leading to a rectangular border accented with notable figures.
Condition: Displays well with age worn details adding to the piece's appeal. Discoloration, craquelure, and wood losses around the corners. Termite holes to the back of the wood. The back has a chiseled portion at the center missing that does not detract from the front. The plank is slightly curved, and has a notable loss to the upper right corner that does not significantly affect the front.
