Item Description
An early 19th Century English George II style secretary bookcase, in lovely form, showcasing a burl walnut veneered exterior, presenting a top hutch displaying an arched top, which encases two swinging glassed doors lined with paneled trim, which open to reveal a hollower interior affixed with shelving and storage areas. The hutch rests atop a secretary desk, which features a flip down hinged door which opens to reveal a writing surface and additional storage compartments. The desk rests atop a bay of four graduated drawers affixed with brass bail handles and escutcheons. Mounted on a shaped and carved skirt, and ending in bracket feet.
Condition: With expected signs of use given its age, including multiple areas of surface scratches, evidence of veneer loss and loss to the finish, chips, imperfections, checking, and wear consistent with use given its age, as indicated in photography.
