Item Description
Late 19th-Early 20th Century authors set of four letters including:
-E.K. Chambers (Sir Edmund Kerchever Chambers, English, 1866-1954) a 1 1/2 letter handwritten sent from the official office of board of education with seal in upper left corner dated ‘12. X. 23’ addressed to an unnamed woman, declining the offer to lecture.
- Louis de Robert (French, 1871-1937) 1 1/4 handwritten letter laid on paper, sent from Villa Henriette Sannois (embossed in upper left corner) writer in script in response to a request sent from Christine Wilcop. Mentions two works that have been translated. References “Le Roman du malade” the payment of 20 pounds from Stanley Faul publisher in London. Signed in full name. Not dated.
- WM Lyon Phelps (birth name: William, American, 1865-1943) handwritten pair sent along horizontal sheets of paper in blue ink, one from Yale University to the president’s wife, Kay regarding an invitation. Undated, and signed ‘Billy’. The latter is a double paged note sent from Grindstone City, Michigan in 1938 sending appreciation for the recipient’s lecture. Signed “Billy.”
Condition: In overall good condition with expected signs of age and wear including some creases and toning but very minor.
