Item Description
A fantastic trompe l'oeil painting on panel in the form of a tapestry on a rod complete with faux tassels. The design is after an 18th century Beauvais tapestry in the manner of Jean-Baptiste Huet (French, 1745-1811), displaying a hanging bouquet in a luxurious, palatial garden burgeoning with vibrant blooms in green, purple, orange, and blue. The scene is surrounded by rich red and gilt detailing, creating an impactful and elegant aesthetic.
Condition
The finials to the top and bottom left ends of the rods need to be reaffixed. Slight losses to the finish but overall presents well.
