Item Description
This gorgeous painted bone storage box / jewelry box is shaped rectangular, with a hinged lid, and is wonderfully painted with a scrolling foliate pattern in green, red and gilt paint all over the exterior of the box. Aside from the bottom trim above the four scroll form feet, which is decorating with alternating green and red lines, the all over foliate scroll is never ending allowing the eye to continually move about in wonderful fashion.
When opened there are three containment sections. Two long horizontal compartments separated by a thin wall, along with another thin wall about a fourth of the way to the right that affords for a third compartment that is vertically aligned.
The box is set with brass hinges and brackets at the coners for support along with the locking mechanism.

Condition: There are areas of wear including paint loss to some of the foliate scroll but does not detract from the overall appearance of the box and could always be inpainted if so desired. Presents very well.
