A collection of vintage tole lidded metal canisters circa 1950s, in a simple black finish with fantastic hand-painted floral motifs in red, yellow, and green hues. Features six cylindrical vessels, one thin rectangular, and one small square vessel. Many of them are marked at the underside with a maker's initials, hand painted "HK."
Accompanied by three red tole pieces, including a curved oval tray, a wall hanging basket, and a watering can. The basket displays a painted landscape of blue birds flying over a river, finished with gilt accents and a scalloped rim. The watering can boasts a striking painting of blue grapes on a leaf, with gilt foliate borders.
Condition: In overall good vintage condition with wear commensurate with age. Surface scratches and finish wear, especially around rims and edges. The small square has mild corrosion on the lid.The thin rectangular piece has some dents and finish loss. Some of the smaller cylindrical pieces have warped slightly, making the lids stubborn to open or close. The wall basket has moderate paint flaking and areas of paint loss, especially to the backboard.
