A collection of three unique mineral samples. These samples include calcite from the Groundhog Mine in New Mexico, selenite over calcite from New Mexico and a selenite sample displaying two stages of growth from Chihuahua Mexico.
The calcite from the Groundhog mine has a cream white color and an coralloid texture.
From New Mexico, the selenite gypsum has formed as fine needle like crystals over a carbonate base. With its bright frost white color and the fine grained crystals, the selenite is thought to look like 'Snow on the Mountain' near the Blanchard Mine in New Mexico.
Collected from Chihuahua Mexico, the sample of selenite gypsum displays two separate stages of mineral growth. The small crystals of selenite growing over larger plates of selenite.
