20th century Swedish artist Lisa Larson (1931-) is well known for her illustrious Swedish ceramic designs.
Larsen is well known for her "warm-hearted, humorous and sometimes subtly ironic design."
Larsen is known to have worked for the Gustavsberg factory between 1954 and 1980 and is represented in the collection of the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design.
The first of the two tiles features a carved and polychrome glazed elephant with three figures atop which are depicted in relief. The elephant has a wonderful design to it's body with geometrical shapes and forms in repeating pattern. The tile has a black border. Signed "LISA L" to the lower right corner.

The second tile also features carved and polychrome glazed figural decoration. Depicting a Viking ship with it's quintessential symmetrical tall bow and sterns which both terminate in scrolls. The ship has a green hue with carved motifs. On board are 6 figures, each of which is depicted with a black battle helmet and their circular shields drawn. Above still is a double sided blue glazed sail, divided in two by the mast. The sail features wonderful geometric cube form carved decoration which is in relief. The ceramic tile has a straw hued trim border. Signed "LISA L" to the lower right corner.
