Item Description

A collection of 3 pairs, 6 total, Chinese carved soapstone table screens / bookends.
Each of the three pairs has a unique decorative motif, all with intricately carved decoration in high relief.
The largest pair with phoenix birds perched on planters seen eating the lush flowers issuing upwards from the planters. The birds and flowers are carved in high relief against a rectangular back with cut corners. This pair rests on the wider base which is carved as if a stand.
The middle sized pair feature flowering plants issuing forth from planters, and the smallest pair are carved with fabulous dragons chasing the pearl of wisdom and are also carved in high relief.

Condition: As Is - All display some wear with some breaks and fractures which is mostly due to the fragility of finely carved soapstone. One of the largest has numerous breaks and losses to the foliate decoration which can be seen in the lot images.
