Item Description
Clara E. Peck was an American illustrator born in Allegan, MI in 1883 and lived until 1968 where she passed away in Gettysburg, PA. She is best known for her illustrations of women and children in the early part of the 20th century. Clara Peck received her arts education from the Minneapolis School of Fine Arts and went on to become employed as a magazine until roughly 1940.
This lovely watercolor painting on paper depicts two children at play. There is a little blonde girl, wearing a yellow dress seen pushing a wheel barrel while her counterpart with dark hair and a red coat and shorts can be seen tossing a handful of leaves into the wheel barrel. The scene is one that would take place each Fall and the foliage around them can be seen in a menagerie of colors with blue sky above.
The painting is signed Clara Elsene Peck to the lower right hand corner.
The painting is presented as matted and in a finished, carved wood frame and glazed.
The frame has a brass plaque with date, stating: Clara Elsene Peck / 1928.
