Signed in characters on the belly of the horse. He is the hero of Medieval Japan who restored the throne which was coveted by Ashikaga Shogun. This impressive piece is a facsimile of of one that was dedicated to the Imperial household for an Imperial silver wedding. It was made in silver by the artist Chokichi Suzuki.
A large scale bronze figure of the hero warrior on horseback holding back the reins of his horse that has stopped suddenly. He is dressed in the classic samurai warrior armor with overlapping plates, breastplate, boots with turned up toes, and elaborate head gear. The shoulder plates have etched floral bands, the breastplate with a monstrous lion mask. His sword is at his waist. The horse wears a long fringed blanket that moves with the motion of the him stopping. Slight wear to the patina on the reins.

Condition: some pieces of the armor loose but preserved- left shoulder plate (solder visible on the shoulder), loose stirrup on the left boot, missing- the sword attachment to the back skirt plate, the helmet top and back plumes,
