The console features an elegant white marble top with dramatic black veining and a beveled edge following a serpentine form, overhanging a black lacquered case fitted with two drawers. Drawers are detailed with scenes of a courting couple and figures on horseback riding past a courtyard flanked by trees and rocky outcrops. Foliate gilt metal double handles on the drawers compliment lavish rocaille appliques on curved sides giving the chest a bombe form, curving out into tapered legs with capped toes.

Fractures to the gilt metal mounts, notably to the front right foot with wear to the ebonized finish along the lower trim and around the surface.
