Item Description
This wonderful group of Chinese export porcelain is compised of a wonderful Mandarin pallete enamelled teapot and cover together with a group of 6 Chinese export porcelain mandarin pallette teabowls.
The teapot and cover has figural reserves depicting figural imagery within an architectural setting with a view of the mountainous landscape above and sea below all with lush foliage. The shaped reserves bordered with gilt decoration are on an underglaze cobalt blue and white ground with foliate decoration together with gilt highlights. The teapot has a stylized handle and spout are decorated with gilt decoration. The scalloped rim of the cover is also gilt with a gilt cell border above and two shaped reserves in gilt borders on underglazed blue and white ground with a gilt spade form finial.
The group of six teabowls stand on circular foot rims with mandarin pallete decoration to the exteriors. With scalloped mouth rims.
All with Christie's sale labels affixed underfoot and to the interiors.

Provenance: All are purchased from Christie's Auction House. The teapot was possibly sold January 20, 1995 as lot # 97 for $690 (but lot description and images could not be confirmed absolutely) while the group of 6 teabowls were sold In Christie's Sale of January 24, 1997 as lot # 151.
Condition: There is rim fritting to all teabowls and teapot with some chips resulting in losses to the enamel decoration. There is also wear to the overall enamelled paint finish commensurate with age, most notable to the gilt decoration. Even with age related wear this lot of teapot and teabowls presents magnificently and is of high caliber Chinese export porcelain.
